英文校正サービスのEditage社のブログで面白い記事がありました。

論文を書くときなど、パソコンでは綺麗に見える画像をプリントしてみると、それほど綺麗ではないことがたまにあります。オンライン投稿でなければ、論文を投稿するときには、プリントアウトした画像添付するのが一般的です。その画像がそのまま論文に載るとすれば、綺麗に印刷した画像を添付して投稿したいものです。そのやり方がEditage社のブログに書いてありました。

What is the way out, then? Assuming that you have obtained proper permission, you may just be able to get away if you reduce the size of the image at least by half. However, it is best to re-draw an illustration or to have it professionally edited in an image-editing software package such as Photoshop. And save the photographs that you intend to use in your paper as tiff files at higher resolution. The manual that comes with the camera will tell you how to do that. Many websites will also guide you—all I want to do in this blog is to alert you.

どうやらファイル形式を高解像度の tiff にすると印刷したときに綺麗なのだそうです。ちょっとした豆知識ですね。
